How Hatchday works
Every day at 00:00 UTC the whole world gets the same photo challenge. You take one photo (plus one retake). An AI judge scores it, writes a one-line roast, and a creature hatches from your photo. Its colours come from what you photographed.
Scoring
- Did it (0–50): an honest attempt at today's challenge.
- Creativity (0–25) and Absurdity (0–15): staging, surprise, ridiculousness.
- Twist (0–10): a small detail that must be in frame. It changes daily so old photos don't work.
Rarity
- Your score sets your tier: Common, Uncommon (40+), Rare (65+), Epic (80+), Legendary (92+).
- Top tiers are scarce on purpose: Legendary is capped at 1% of the day's players, Epic at 8%.
- “First edition” numbers go to the first 5% of the day's players (at least 10).
- Hatch 7 days in a row and your creatures get the Loyal frame.
- While a day has fewer than 500 players we show head-to-head results instead of percentages.
The judge is an AI
Scores, roasts and everything the creatures say are generated by AI models, not written by a person. The judge only comments on objects and staging. It is told never to comment on people, and if it sees a face it ignores the person. A filter checks every line before you see it. If something slips through, use “Report this card”.
